After 5 decades specialising and maintaining period properties in Kent, Sussex & Southern Ireland, including the beauties shown below, and also many years spent Lecturing, we see today an awful lot of rubbish online with people thinking that "doing up and flipping houses is easy" until they hit the "oh, I now wish I'd listened to the science Teachers at School"  or the opposite today with the huge  growth of  "forever home" buyers, who will no doubt still be calling their new house their "forever  home" after they have moved up as family's grow, and moved back down as families become new families who  need to buy their own "forever home"

Be under no illusions at all, every building is a huge mix of Craft skills, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. and of course learning how to recognise the Armchair Experts who have read someone else's post on a Facebook page and watched a DIY'ers video on YouTube., so despite them never having studied nor physically carried out any heritage works, they know everything!

These really are the hurdles in life today: everyone's an expert, and that must be true because the TV shows just drag any known face on to get viewer numbers, and that known face says that it's all easy

Also in addition  to Facebook groups, DIY'ers on youtube, online "influencers" 🤣🤣 and an abundance of armchair experts, just ask any neighbour, because they'll know! 🤣 

The realities are very, very different. How do people think that they can easily restore a beautiful period building with no prior experience, no skills, no Construction knowledge, nor any Engineering knowledge?

"Old houses are cold, damp, mouldy and draughty" - they were not designed and built to be like that, they have been  created into that by people using the wrong materials, with poor skills, poor knowledge, and likely on a shoestring budget, and yet it alpears that history is simply repeating, but of course we mustn't forget Google!  We call it Giggle because it is just so full of utter nonsense that anyone using it must have to Giggle when using it to try and retain some sanity! (Maybe that's the real reason they're using it, their sanity has already gone! 🤣)

We have taken the decision to present information based on the necessary sciences that people really do need to understand in order for them to better care for their home.  After many decades spent Lecturing, Assessing and Verifying national awarding body certifications we are passionate about the conservation, preservation, restoration and the education of caring for our beautiful period and listed buildings:
